Philosophy

 Making outdoor cooking fun
Alfresco Kitchens was born out of a combination of two new found loves arising out of the darkness of Covid - our rekindled interest in creative home cooking and our appreciation of spending time in the garden. No longer should outdoor cooking be limited to the sad lone barbecue wheeled around the garden with food plonked on a spare garden table. We aim to elevate outdoor cooking to an art form all of its own. Outdoor kitchens should take pride of place and be designed as an integral part of the garden, reflecting the materials of your home and the landscape, and most of all, providing a fun place to cook delicious food. And that's where Alfresco Kitchens come in.

About Us

Combining interior design experience with a passion for the outdoors
We are a very young company so please bear with us until our portfolio grows. However we have a wealth of experience in interior design, both residential and commercial, which we think extends perfectly into the great outdoors.
Our knowledge of space, proportion, ergonomics, materials and construction means your Alfresco Kitchen will be completely integrated in its setting, whether right next to your home or at the far end of the garden. And it will look beautiful too.

What We Do

Truly bespoke outdoor designs for both residential and commercial clients
At Alfresco Kitchens we believe that every outdoor kitchen should be as unique as you are. Unlike some companies, we aren’t affiliated with any specific barbecue supplier so the choice is yours, depending on how you love to cook and who you love to cook for. We don’t churn out off-the-shelf solutions - each kitchen is bespoke, designed to your own personal requirements. Your Alfresco Kitchen could be contemporary or rustic, definitely stylish, maybe a bit quirky. We just don’t do bling!

Based in West Oxfordshire we generally work in and around The Cotswolds area but we are also happy to travel further afield for specific projects. We work with private clients with gardens large or small, as well as landscape architects and garden designers. Our experience in commercial hospitality projects also means we are well-placed to take on Alfresco Kitchen areas for pubs, restaurants and hotels, which of course is particularly relevant right now.
Designs for outdoor living
We also love designing other outdoor entertaining spaces, from terraces to decks, lounging and dining areas, structures and pathways, meaning your Alfresco Kitchen can be fully integrated in the overall scheme.

How it works

Working with you to achieve your dream outdoor kitchen
We start with a phone conversation and ask for a few photographs to assess the size of the project. Unless it is a particularly large or commercial scheme, we would usually come out for about half a day to see the proposed site for your Alfresco Kitchen and its setting. Sometimes the best place may be somewhere you hadn’t even considered!

We would spend time discussing ideas with you and finding out more about your style of cooking, who you are cooking for and how many, and your preferred cooking style. Whether it's a charcoal or gas barbecue, or a pizza oven, the choice is ultimately yours but we are there to offer advice.

For more simple sites we can measure up ourselves; more complex sites, particularly where changes in level are involved, may require professional surveying if there are no existing plans.
We then develop the design back at the office, drawing up scaled sketch plans, elevations, and sections as appropriate, as well as suggesting materials to suit your site. This is all sent back to you for your own implementation.

We can also provide further services on request such as detail drawings for construction and a project management service, overseeing the full installation if required.

We can work with any outdoor space but the ideal time to plan your Alfresco Kitchen is in conjunction with any building work or landscaping, when the choices of location may be more varied, tradesmen are on site and services such as water and electrics can be easily laid on if needed.

What it costs

For an average sized Alfresco Kitchen involving a half day site visit and subsequent design work in the office we start at £1200 plus travel.
Larger schemes and commercial projects are priced accordingly.
